Introduction
Weapons from the Revolutionary War were very slow and not the most accurate. The major weapons used in the Revolutionary War were the musket and bayonet, swords, flintlock pistols, cannons, and rifles. All these weapons played a big role in the war and were major advantages to both sides.
Musket
Muskets were very slow and could not shoot very far. The weapon weighs about 9 pounds and is about 5 feet long Mainly used by British. With a fast soldier a shooter could fire a round evrey 15 seconds but only up to 4 minutes. to load a
musket they would have to pour a little of the gunpowder into the pan of the lock. They would close the lock and drop the cartridge into the barrel. Then they would use the rammer to ram it in. The balls they used were not accurate because they were small and they curved. thats why muskets were fired in volleys and cannonades.

Bayonet
The bayonet was a giant knife at the end of a gun. It was used if the gun broke or enemies were close by. This turned the gun into a spear. This was attached to a musket. Bayonets caused many casualties on the battlefield.
Flintlock pistol
In war pistols were very rare. Pistols were of carried by officers and sergeants and hessians to show there rank. The officers would mast likely be carrying a sabor or small sword. The pistol was reloaded just about the same way as the musket. These pistols were carried as a secondary weapon wich is your back up. This weapon was a hand held weapon so it didnt weigh as much.
Cannon
Very important to armies was artillery. Artillery were large guns that were mounted so the could move easily. The cannons were fired by a crew of men. There are cannons that are used in the field to fire on the enimies. Then there are cannons mounted on forts and ships for protection. lastly there are cannons called mortars which are used to lob bombs on certant spots like a base or a boat. Cannons were mainly used by the brittish troops, the Americans did not have alot of cannons.
